Obama’s Olym-pic Failure – Updated with CNN coverage

This day just keeps getting better and better.  Maybe I’ll buy a lottery ticket.

@ FoxNews

Chicago was eliminated in the first ballot of voting for the 2016 Olympics on Friday, a stunning defeat for President Obama who put his capital behind an enormous campaign.

I know there are those out there who will condemn my glee as inappropriate because after all, the US loses here.  I disagree.  We are in no position to host this.  We don’t have the money.  We don’t have the security (anymore).  And frankly, having known quite a few people from all over the world during my lifetime and having grasped how the entitlement of the US irks them, the overbearing arrogance of Barack Obama and his Chicago crew most assuredly killed their chances.

Of course, none of that discounts how remarkable it is that Obama could not deliver.  Forgive me if I’m mistaken but I could have sworn the IOC is easily the most bribable committee in history.  What happened?  Couldn’t fit them all on Air Force One?  Or are they all just “raaaaaaaaaaaacist”?

The screen shots of those “50,000 adoring fans” (is that a Park Service number or Media number, BTW) awaiting the announcement in Chicago are priceless.  If only this could have been the scene last November.  Oh well, only three some years to go – maybe.

Yep, better and better and better.  It’s almost as if they had the teleprompters & tapes all ready to roll with more adoration of the “Won” and simply did not know what to do with the dead air.  A must see from HotAir -

Axelrod on Fox just blamed the IOC – former President of the IOC is rep from Madrid.  He’s “not an expert on IOC politics”.  Suddenly good ol’ boy network not so good.  Epic fail.  Is it up on FailBlog yet?

LOL, what’s even funnier is that my mom said earlier today; “Republicans are going to have a field day with this.”

Anywho, it’s about time they had them in South America.

    • gopmom says:

Actually, it’s the Americans who felt that Obama’s Sale’s Call” was ridiculous that are having a field day. If he was going to get the credit for winning the Olympics for Chicago, he gets credit for losing them.

While I agree somewhat with the “it’s time the Olympics were held in South America” I can’t help but wonder if all the pretty girls and widely available cheap drugs had something to do with it. Maybe if girls in Chicago were prettier…

In the end, the US could not have afforded to flush billions down the toilet that is the immeasurably corrupt Chicago machine. It’s a win for all of us.

      • Marie says:

Nice. Reduce Brazil down to the selection of “pretty girls”, and “widely available cheap drugs”.

        *insert long eye roll here*

        • GOPMOM says:

Um, I suppose I could have mentioned that Rio is the murder capitol of the world but that would have been insulting rather than complimentary.

          *insert self-amused chuckle*

I fail to see a single comment above concerning W’s support of the olympic’s coming to Chicago. Of course, you are the same group that probably supports Glenn Beck’s comment about the Toronto opening ceremony having lost a billion dollars. I suppose taht would be possible if the Toronto olympics had actually occurred already. God, your are all idiots.

    • GOPMOM says:

Sure W supported the Olymipcs coming to the USA. What he did not do was a sales call. And of course, W never talked about making a victory lap around Chicago as he wraps up his second term as President. Such a level of arrogance is rare in US Presidents but it is a not surprisingly common trait amongst narcissistic, moronic dictators.

Of course, you are the same group that still believes Sarah Palin was not being facetious when she mentioned she could see Russia from her hometown. Or believes she thought “Africa” was a country versus simply misstating “Africa” instead of “South Africa”.

Sheesh, you are all idiots. Moron alert indeed.

      • moronalert says:

Or that she was incapable of conducting an intelligent interview (I’ll bring ‘em to ya). What books and magazines does she read in Alaska? “All of them. I read all of them”. What does she think of the Bush doctrine? “In what respect, Charlie?” No wonder your type is going extinct.

Actually, I think Shrub sitting on his butt in China for 4 days and slapping the female volleyball player on the butt gave the world a much better image than our President throwing his hat in the ring for one day.

        • GOPMOM says:

Wow! Still hanging on to the “can’t give an interview” myth. You need to find other sources of news than CBS, et al. Well, you’ll get plenty of opportunity to hear Sarah soon enough. If you were running for VP and knew the media was out to stump you at every turn, you would ask for clarification on such an absurdly broad question as well. Or maybe you wouldn’t. (BTW there is no Bush doctrine except according to Code Pink.)

No one asks Odumbo what he reads because they are afraid he would answer honestly – “The Post-American World”, for instance. Maybe if we knew what grades he got in college, we could at least make the assumption he can read.

Of course you’re overlooking the fact that every real man in America envied W’s “sports guy” moment while no one admired Obumbler’s ogling of a minor in Italy earlier this year. And Chicago is wondering why Rio won the Olympics?

  3. GOPMOM says:

Hey moron – Shouldn’t you be out in the streets celebrating The Won’s win of the “Nobel Intentions Prize”?

    Barack Hussein Obama
    mm mmm mm

    • ATG says:

Ack. I think this is as ridiculous as you do.

      • gopmom says:

OMG. The world is definitely coming to an end – we agree.

Unfortunately I cannot help but wonder if maybe you think it is ridiculous because it is an obvious embarrassment whereas I think it is ridiculous because he is an abject failure at everything he does.

        • ATG says:

Probably we disagree about the ridiculousness. I don’t think he’s a failure, he just doesn’t really have significant successes in the area of international peace… and certainly didn’t 2 weeks into his presidency.

Plus, not to sound too pinko but I think it’s absurd to give the “peace prize” to a president waging two wars… he will probably have had more civilians killed under his command than any other Nobel laureate…

  4. Brad Kinne says:

“that every real man in America envied W’s “sports guy” moment”
Yes, that’s what he is, a “towel snapper”, & that is the best he ever was. Hope you are proud.
He was fine as GM of the Texas Rangers, & that is as far as he should have gotten in life.
A perfect example of mediocrity rising to the top.

  5. gopmom says:

There is no single meaning of the Bush doctrine. In fact, there have been four distinct meanings, each one succeeding another over the eight years of this administration…

Now, I could have sworn we made the decision not to use wiki as a reference source. Even my kid’s elementary school has banned its use. Try again.

  6. ATG says:

This is an interesting take. I buy the 3rd and 4th definitions as potential interpretations of a “Bush doctrine” – both pre-emptive military intervention as well as spreading democracy. Neither of those, of course, was really laid out by Palin.

As I said before, I’m totally comfortable using well-sourced Wikipedia articles.

  7. Marie says:

Unless you need information on the meaning of Kwanzaa.

  8. gopmom says:

It was a loaded question – and we all know it. She should be lauded as recognizing it as so but that is not the popular opinion so…

If you read the wiki entry on the Bush Doctrine and the scathing tone in which most of it is written, your claim of well-sourced means nothing. The fact is that wiki is unchecked and abused regularly.

In theory, wiki is a god-send. In reality, it is a nightmare. Hmmm, reminds me of the Obama Doctrine – roll over and play dead.

  9. GOPMOM says:

Considering Kwanzaa is a ridiculous, made-up holiday invented to capitalize on the ridiculous commercialization of Christmas, it is an entirely subjective topic. Therefore, wiki is an appropriate source of information. Information, not necessarily fact.
