Barack Hussein Obama Wins 2009 Nobel Peace Prize
I’m going to try to get through this without breaking out in laughter. I’m almost over the shock of it – I had forgotten he had even been nominated. I’ve been reading blogs and news reports all morning and my favorite headline by far comes from The Heritage Foundation – The Nobel Intentions Prize. My favorite quote comes from The Times of London -
The committee said today that he had “captured the world’s attention”. It is certainly true that his energy and aspirations have dazzled many of his supporters. Sadly, it seems they have so bedazzled the Norwegians that they can no longer separate hopes from achievement. The achievements of all previous winners have been diminished.
It is rightly pointed out in the article that the world, not to mention our troops in harms’ way, await his irresponsibly tardy decision on a requested troop surge in Afghanistan. What gives me pause is the thought that this silly award might have an effect on Obama’s thinking. Will he bow to international (and anti-war nut) pressure and destroy our chances of securing a free and democratic Afghanistan? Will he sacrifice more American lives because his desire to remain popular supersedes his supposed commitment to protect the United States?
Despite the speculation this morning that Obama might have declined to accept the Prize, he gave his speech, sprinkled with words of humility and humbleness we’ve never before heard from him. I can only imagine the debate in the West Wing – to accept or not accept. I’m sure Michelle and other close-at-hand sycophants encouraged him to accept with great pride and promises of the greatness to come. However, those whose very existence depends on his star power must be fretting over his “peaking too soon” status.
At the very least, this political stunt pulled by the ultra-Liberal Nobel committee is simply one in a long line of embarrassments we as Americans must learn to tolerate, having allowed the amateurish Barack Obama to ascend to the oval office. At its worst, it will cost us American lives and the lives of untold innocents around the world as it encourages Obama to pursue his doctrine of appeasement. In any case, peace is no closer than it was before the 5AM call.

Barack Hussein Obama won the Hot and Tasty Campbell’s Soup Award today because he’s hot and tasty.
