WSJ has the VA’s “Death Panel” Handbook
Last year, bureaucrats at the VA’s National Center for Ethics in Health Care advocated a 52-page end-of-life planning document, “Your Life, Your Choices.” It was first published in 1997 and later promoted as the VA’s preferred living will throughout its vast network of hospitals and nursing homes. After the Bush White House took a look at how this document was treating complex health and moral issues, the VA suspended its use. Unfortunately, under President Obama, the VA has now resuscitated “Your Life, Your Choices.”
“Your Life, Your Choices” presents end-of-life choices in a way aimed at steering users toward predetermined conclusions, much like a political “push poll.” For example, a worksheet on page 21 lists various scenarios and asks users to then decide whether their own life would be “not worth living.”
This hurry-up-and-die message is clear and unconscionable. Worse, a July 2009 VA directive instructs its primary care physicians to raise advance care planning with all VA patients and to refer them to “Your Life, Your Choices.” Not just those of advanced age and debilitated condition—all patients. America’s 24 million veterans deserve better.
What’s that? Clinton created it, Bush, the evil guy sending all those boys and girls off to certain death, shut it down and Obama brought it back? How curious.
Nope. Nothing to see here, move along. But don’t forget to get your H1N1 vaccine.

Excerpt from a federal uncover agent’s account of his conversation with a key political mentor and adviser of BO.
Well, I guess BO is going to start with Veterans.
Well, there are 24 million of them.
This past Sunday, Chris Wallace destroyed an Obama spokesperson who tried to defend the “Your Life, Your Choice” program. The woman lied through her teeth, which was especially sad to see as she is a vet who lost her legs in Iraq. I wrote about the interview here

Great perspective. Thanks.
I am just loving this new position of the left – after eight years of proclaiming themselves the friend of the serviceman, turns out they’re the fiends after all.
When I think about the death panel provisions in the healthcare or health insurance (or whatever they’re calling it today) reform bill, all I can think about are the children born “imperfect” who will be denied specialized care, the babies who might never be born, the elderly who will miss out on witnessing the lives of the generations they have created and all because a few have decided they know what’s best for all of us.
Don’t these people realize that life is messy, we don’t get to choose, that no amount of insurance guarantees good health and good outcomes? The Dems are selling this as a cure-all for all of life’s difficulties. It’s not.
