Would someone please water-board Nancy Pelosi?
Maybe then we could get some concrete answers out of her. It would seem the pressure of whether she will be re-elected or not is simply not enough to inspire her to give truthful and consistent answers.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted Friday that she was briefed only once about the “enhanced” interrogation techniques being used on terrorism suspects and that she was assured by lawyers with the CIA and the Department of Justice that the methods were legal.
Pelosi issued a statement after CIA records released this week showed that Pelosi was briefed in September 2002 on the interrogation methods. The briefings memo appeared to contradict the speaker’s claims that she was never told that waterboarding or other enhanced interrogation methods were being used.
“We were not — I repeat — were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used,” Pelosi said on April 23.
LIAR! Isn’t it time for her to go? Surely even her most dedicated constituents must have finally see through her veil of dedication to public service and recognized her for what she is – a manipulative, dishonest, unapologetic politician/opportunist. Is there any outrage on the Left? I’d go looking for it but I just cannot bring myself to give “one hit” to the Democrat Underground – someone else go over and tell me what you find. Where, oh where, is Cindy Sheehan?
It’s no secret I don’t like Nancy Pelosi. Her politics are simply abhorrent and her personality is akin to fingernails on a chalkboard – I went to Catholic school, I know of which I speak. But her hypocrisy is unforgivable. Let me try to sort this out. It was all fine and dandy to “torture” terrorists when it was politically popular and the mood in the nation was “hang ‘em high”, but now, in retrospect, it’s not? Speaker Pelosi supports the personal and professional destruction of the attorneys that wrote the memos that advised the Bush administration but wants a “by” for herself because she was uninformed and unaware? Isn’t she just as complicit in the final actions, if not more so, since she had the power to stop it by speaking out against it, at the time? Doesn’t her silence, at the time, indicate her approval? So, maybe an ethics panel should investigate her, right? Maybe she should be held responsible?
No excuses for her, no matter how acceptable and politically popular the policy might have been at the time. We’ve now decided, because we needed a cause to unite condemnation of the Right, that it’s not only morally wrong but also illegal to use such “torturous techniques”. Isn’t she just as guilty – as are all those in Congress who reviewed the policy and approved of it? Or are those who did not change their minds the guilty ones? I need a little help figuring out who is in the wrong here and who should be held responsible. Anyone?
In case I haven’t made it clear, I don’t think water-boarding someone is torture. And I really don’t have a problem with using “harsh interrogation techniques” to get information from monsters who would murder others to further their political, religious or fanatical ambitions. Actually, I have some ideas if the CIA is interested (see above Catholic school reference.) And I feel this way even now even though the current administration insists that the new policies of the new President have somehow insulated us against the kinds of attacks that were being planned against us before, based on who was President then. Um, wasn’t the 9/11 attack planned when Clinton was in office? I thought terrorists liked Democrats?
But that’s not what this is about. This is about the hypocrisy and dishonesty of Nancy Pelosi. Well, Left, it’s your turn to go after one of your own. We’re waiting to see how you will handle this. You have a real opportunity here to show all of us that you do have standards, that you will stand by your um, principles, and not allow blatant abuses of power. Hey, if you handle this correctly, you might win a few converts. You seem to have all the answers. Will you hold your own as accountable as you hold our guys? The evidence is irrefutable. Will there be an investigation? Is she out?

Truly amazing- Pelosi was caught lying red-handed… and she’s STILL lying.
Of course, she had no objection to the use of EITs for almost 5 years- until she was Speaker in 2007 and the antiwar left raised it as an issue. Suddenly she’s against it, and/or “knew nothing”. And obviously willing to lie to the whole country to create a more favorable reality.
Apparently Obama and Pelosi forgot something: the CIA kills people… it’s in their job description. Did they really think these killers were going to meekly take one for the team… when the team captain is a lying, incompetent, arrogant nebbish with no real-world experience and who told them they need to kiss his ring? – please
Pelosi is a no-talent hack who’s made a lot of enemies. Going to be hard to BS her way out of this one- her approval rating was like 9% before this story even broke.

On the bright side… even though Pelosi is an embarrassment, she is primarily an embarrassment to Democrats. She can be a great asset to Republicans, particularly in the area of fund raising.
Democrats are turning a problem into a disaster with the economy. Deficit figures released this morning show a much wider gap between revenues and expenditures, so team Obama must go forth and borrow. Unfortunately, their competition for money on international markets will drive up interest rates for all.. This in turn will kill off any jobs recovery.
Despite all this, conservatives should take heart. After all, there is no place for Obama to hide when all this starts turning fo the worse….it is His economy now and not one that He ‘inherited.’

As I go through the motions of reestablishing the GOP in my town, I have come across so many who feel this way, who believe this, too. Now I was knee high to a grasshopper during the Carter years so I have little recall of how bad it was and the challenges Reagan faced. We’re small (very small) business owners and some days, the days when I watch Glenn Beck, I’m scared witless of how all this economic destruction will effect my family. So that’s the difficult part for me. But then I realize that we’ve been economizing/struggling/making tough choices for a year now, so other than making the garden bigger or raising chickens, I’m already where I thought I didn’t want to be. The difference is making the choices on your own or having the government force you to make the choices. I’m happy to make sacrifices knowing that eventually it will pay off – not necessarily in money alone but also in independence and opportunities.
As for Pelosi, there just aren’t words – to describe either her or her constituents, who keep voting for her. It will be interesting to see if they finally dump her next year. I believe this “oversight” indicates she has lied to every special interest group out there. It’s a scary look at Liberals’ human nature in my opinion – so self-serving.
