GOPMOM Shocker – Not summarily opposed to Gay Court Nominee

souter_replacement1I wonder if a few of you out there will find this hard to believe but I am not opposed to Obama appointing someone openly gay to the United States Supreme Court.   I am opposed to Obama appointing someone with an radical political agenda, however, which we all know he will.  I do not believe the two necessarily go hand in hand.  There are many gay people in our country living their lives happily everyday, who are not part of the movement to glamourize and popularize the gay lifestyle.  These are people who just want to be left alone to live their lives in peace, with little or no interference from the government or outside world – in a word, Conservatives.

On FoxNews.com this AM -

“Republicans don’t believe in identity politics,” Sessions told FOX News. “We just don’t believe in that kind of quota approach to life. Let’s just bring the nominee up and make sure that they treat everybody fairly regardless of what kind of persuasion they may have.”

Don’t get me wrong – I’m sure that  will I be opposed to whomever Obama nominates but it won’t have anything to do with their sex, race, religion or sexual “persuasion” – unless that has to do with something other than a consenting adult.

Both sides of this debate say they believe Sessions when he says an openly gay nominees would get a fair shake and that the real fight will come down to whether or not that nominee would bring a personal agenda to the bench.

I’m not too confident in the above statement.  If recent history shows us anything, it is that no one gets a “fair shake” when it comes to opposing the gay/lesbian agenda.  If you are not on their side, it has nothing to do with the person’s politics or agenda or experience – it’s all about bigotry and prejudice.  This is simply a battle Conservatives cannot win either in the politics or the media.  It is much easier to accuse than it is to defend – the Left has learned this lesson well.

I’m not holding my breath, though.  Obama has shown little or no affinity for the gays/lesbians and their political agenda.  I gotta’ say, he strikes me as one of those guys who is extremely uncomfortable around homosexuals – probably one of those nuts who thinks they’re all gonna hit on him, which, based on the fawning and worship being heaped on him, is a distinct possibility, I guess.  They overwhelmingly supported him in the election and he hasn’t so much as thrown them a bone.  Only time will tell, but as a Conservative I can assure you, having this miniscule but extremely loud lobby come after you is no walk in the park.  If he doesn’t nominate a gay/lesbian, I’d say he’s in for a world of hurt now that this story is out there.  Hmm, I almost feel sorry for the guy.
