Wow…. Barney Frank and the Finance committee have approved the AIG super tax bill and managed to slip in a “Pay for Performance” clause that extends the power to ALL employees of ALL companies.

Yep thats right…the ability to cap salaries would not be limited to those employed by companies being forced to take TARP money. The Fat Fingers of Government will now have the power to cap anyone’s salary and benefits!

    Bah humbug!

ANy reason, that you may know of, why my trackbacks are not appearing on MM’s site? Starting to get frustrating. :(

And to your point: If they offer 99K as a salary for what I do… i am THERE! Consider me converted. :)

    Sean

  2. wrench says:

The point is the government will have the ability to cap your salary to 10K if they wanted. Let me show you some examples:

Researcher for the Heritage Foundation- 5K
CEO of Fox News – 5K
    Writer for MRC – 5K

Acorn Census Part time Worker – 150K

  3. ATG says:

As usual, this post is maybe 50% accurate – it doesn’t apply to “ALL companies,” only ones receiving government capital. And there is no pay cap.

And, wrench, nobody is paying Acorn Census Part time Workers 150K.

  4. wrench says:

Referring tp the power that will be granted with this bill but has yet to be executed.

BO and his friends can impose a salary cap on whomever them want in companies they give our money to.

    AND

Companies can and have been forced to take government capital, we all saw that with TARP.

Thus – They can impose salary caps on anyone they please or upon anyone who displeases them.

    Do not kid yourself ATG.
The ACORN workers are already filling in Census forms. :)

I agree with both of you. On the one hand, no one is going to go the the extremes pointed out by you, wrench. On the other hand, I am fully aware of the POSSIBILITY of every industry being effected.

Case in point: TARP funds. Now the AUTO industry. Up next ENERGY (when carbon caps force them to bankruptcy and ’saving’ by Uncle Nanny).

What is even scarier is that the Treasury Secretary will have broad, unilateral power to determine if an industry can ‘threaten the American economy’.

Imagine if video games go under. How many people will be affected? Retail chains? Will MY company then be a target of governmental takeover?

    Welcome to the revolution.

    ‘threaten the American Economy’

    Energy?
    Newspapers?
    TV Stations?
    Hollywood?
    Radio Networks?
    Search Engines?

Would control of these be politically attractive?

  7. Perry says:

I believe that you are all suffering from a misunderstanding. President Barack Hussein Obama and his administration are just completing the journey that was started in 1913 in this nation. A journey that is for the good of everyone.

We will all be EQUAL. (Some more equal than others.)

We will all be treated with FAIRNESS. (Especially in regards to the First Amendment.)

We will have everything taken care of for us. (Remember, no phone bill, car payments, rent… he’ll take care of us.)

We will live in the very same socialist utopia that the Soviet Union was for a little over 70 years. If it wasn’t for the big mean nasty American imperialist Ronald Reagan it would all have worked.

So what if food was short? Who cares that you had to stand in line for a loaf of bread? And does it really matter that if you spoke out you were sent to a re-education camp? (Kind of like a FEMA camp, no?)

It was utopia. Just ask the leaders. They knew best, just as your current leader knows what’s best for us. How dare you assume that you know better than GOVERNMENT what is best in YOUR life. What delusional arrogance. You probably don’t even drive a hybrid.

[The above statement is approved by our benevolent federal government here in the newly formed Peoples Democratic Republic of the United Socialist States of America. Remember... Big Brother is watching.]

Or in the words of Colonel Potter (M*A*S*H for you younguns): “Horse Pucky!”

    Perry, Welcome!

I like to think the new name of our revolutionized nation will be

The United American Soviet Socialist States

    or UASS’S for short.

  10. wrench says:

I do not think all of the states would join.
You would only end up with 40+.

  11. GOPMOM says:

Shhhh, we don’t want anyone to know that. The they’ll all move to those states. Geesh.

  12. Perry says:

Hey wrench… we have 58 to start with, right?

And I like my name, because it incorporates every bit of what the communist regimes use in their names.

  13. wrench says:

Ah yes – please forgive me, I was not born in the USA.

  14. Perry says:

I hear that… you have one of those funny accents, too.

Don’t worry, my wife is also not a born American.

    She’s from Canada–but it’s not her fault. :P
