GOPMOM Alert: Children playing with guns
Based on the rhetoric coming from Capitol Hill, the nation is falling to pieces. What, in this time on unprecedented crisis, where Americans are turning against each other, lining the battlefields on opposing sides of a class war, is a President to do? Why, appear on late-night TV, of course -which most Americans don’t even watch because they have to get up to go to work – to discuss the dog his kids are getting (he still doesn’t know what kind!) and joke about his bowling scores.
Now, many of you might think I’m here to rail on the O-dummy for his insensitive and amateurish remark comparing himself to Special Olympics athletes. Not so, although it was in very poor taste. Someone really should tell this guy that he should be using more ‘ahs’ and ‘ums’ when he speaks off the cuff, apparently he needs the time to censor himself. But no, I’m not gonna’ give him the business for his stupid remark – I’ve been known to make a short bus comment myself when I trip over imaginary obstacles – something I do often.
What I’m trying to come to grips with is how on earth the President has had time to triple his score? Between deciding his NCAA brackets and then being interviewed about it – again, not an um or ah when he talks about basketball – the Wednesday night cocktails, the dates out on the town with the wife and all his time practicing bowling, when is he working? COuld this be why he keeps insisting Geithner is doing an “outstanding job”. Might bring to mind this statement, no? The one that got all the attention. Oh and since we’re comparing the two, can I just say – it’s defibrillator, DA, not defibulator. (Can you say nukular?) And what was that about Simon Cowell? I know you think it’s cool and all, but I’m thinking, considering the economic catastrophe we are in, references to pop culture are unnecessary. What is this, the “Pop Tart Presidency”?
The President keeps saying he understands that American are upset, are angry about the AIG bonuses, angry about the banks abusing their power. (I’m thinking he’s burned up that Bill Clinton coined the phrase “I feel your pain”.) He wants us to know that everyone’s actions effect everyone else. He wants to reassure us that he will do everything in his power to get the bonus money back. He wants to prevent us from ever again being held hostage by a bank that makes a bad bet. He tells us this is a moral and ethical issue – we need to change the way we do business. Obama says, in response to the shouldn’t someone go to jail question, that this is all legal (not unlike his book bonus) and that is the problem.
Obama compares the bonus policy to consumer product protection laws, something everyone can relate to – how if a toaster explodes, you have a case but when your investment tanks, you don’t. Would someone please explain the concept of user error to the President? He is so caught up in his nanny-state, no one is ever responsible for their actions, we will take care of everything mentality, he forgot about free will, self-determination, liberty and freedom. These are the values this country was founded on, Barack. You are as free to make a mess of things as you are to become a success. Did you say you studied Constitutional law?Or was it Subverting the Constitution as Law?
You do realize he is again talking about salary caps, new regulations within the banking/finance industry – he’s talking about fairness, about even outcomes, about the government deciding who wins, who loses, what’s safe, what’s not, what’s allowable, what is forbidden – all good things if what you want is a .5% return on your investment, about what the Social Security Administration offers these days. These yahoos have spent a week dominating the media, manipulating the public and fomenting rage against a few unlucky schmucks who are just happy to have received a little dosh in exchange for headaches, heartburn, 20 hour work days and future heart attacks, right? This whole line of asking for the bonuses back is what is stunning. Um, would anyone who donated to Obama and regrets it now like their campaign contribution back?
I also truly enjoyed the statement that it’s time to break the blame pattern and move on. See, it’s not about blame, Barack, it’s about identifying who the incompetents are so that we can reassign them to juice box distribution at snack time. You guys are like children playing with guns – completely clueless. Or are they.

Sounds like you’re having a hard time with the new president. I’m sure it’s really hard to be a Republican these days. Especially knowing all of your party’s values and ideas no longer work. The majority of you people are fakes and liars. Is that what you truly believe in? People won’t stand for the type of dictatorship the Republicans are looking for and when the last president was such a disaster to our country and to the world. When will you all ever learn. Oh, wait, you people don’t learn. That’s your party has gone kaput. You guys better shape up fast if you guys want any kind of future in the US.
Oh, hi Wow. How are things in the airplane business today? And thanks for not using such offensive language this time. It is okay, BTW, to use a real email address – we don’t send out e-cards, I promise.
You know, I don’t think you and I are as different as you seem to think we are. Can I let you in on a little secret? I only used GOP in the blog name because it was available and it’s good as a short domain. You are attributing a lot more party loyalty to me than I truly possess. You sound like a really angry Libertarian- type. I’m all down with the Libertarians – “Liberty for all!” and everything! We should get together for coffee. Scratch that – how about tea?
Um, regarding the whole “party’s values and ideas” thing – I’m really more of a ‘principal principles’ kind of girl. And you’ll need to be more specific about the fakes and liars line, too. As I see it, these are qualities that truly transcend party lines. I know there is still a lot of bitterness out there about W – heck, I was against TARP – but I’m putting money on Obama going down in history as a much more disastrous President that W. At least W kept us safe, right? Little credit please.
But you’re right about how much I loathe Obama – not only as the narcissistic, sociopathic, communist, America hating, self-hating lying crap bag that he is but also his “values and ideas”. I’d say principles, but I simply can’t identify any – they “change” too much. (Maybe that ’s what he meant by change.)
Come on, for someone who obviously revels in his/her hatred of W, you can’t find one thing about the new guy you don’t like? Not one thing? Not even the ridiculous dog-he-can’t-identify? Hey, do you think it’s accidental the Obama family chose a dog with a ‘fro or is that some kind of message to the people? I’m a little worried about this poor puppy being foisted on them. You know, I’ve known a few Portuguese water dogs and they are very high strung – I don’t think they have any idea what they’re in for. My bet is one of the Obama girls gets bit within the first year. There’s is nothing sadder than when a good dog ends up with the wrong family. I think I’ll sign up with Portuguese water dog rescue.
Anyway, you’re cool with the new Prez then? All his appointments? The speeches? The socialism? The threats? His offensive gifts to other Heads of State? His politically incorrect jokes defaming the disabled? Not one teeny, tiny bit of doubt he might be in over his head?
Like I said, based on your other comments, we’re not that far off. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not crossing the aisle to meet you. Maybe we could just share a pot of tea while chatting over the fence.
Not usually my style to post shots at Obama, but I thought this one was cute, enjoy mom:

I was shocked when I came back and you actually allowed my comment to post. Cheers! I’ve been allowed in. Makes me feel special. Not in a Special Olympics type of way though. Maybe you’re not quite as bad off as I thought you were. BTW, my last comment was no more offensive than anything on written on this site.
We may not be that different in a lot of ways (we’re both Americans, right?), but you sound like a bit of a racist to me. You know the comment you made about the “dog with the fro.” That’s pretty low sista. You know that is still a huge issue in this country and you’re contributing. You have a rebel flag in front of your house don’t you? Be honest now.
Coffee would be great. Thanks for the invitation. It’d have to be lunch or dinner for tea though. I like iced tea. How about you? You cool with that or do you need your tea hot? Oh man, generalizations and sterotypes, gotta love’em. I also like my coffee black, but not black because of our prez. Just because I like the way it tastes.
No, I’m not an angry liberterian. Angry citizen, maybe. Sick of all the bickering, definitely. Both parties definitely have their faults but you have to admit that Bush and his cronies left some major damage behind. It angers me to see this country become so divided. It’s not about Democrat vs Republican or Liberal vs Conservative to me. I don’t really identify with either just because of the name. As a matter of fact, I recently learned some things about Ron Paul which I really liked. He’s a very intelligent man. Oh, and I also made the mistake of voting for Bush. Twice! It’s more about right vs wrong to me. See, I thought I was making the right choice but I know now I made the wrong choice. But you see even right and wrong can’t be agreed to anymore. What is right and what is wrong? There just seems to be no common goal in this country anymore. I mean the citizens on the whole are not working together to be the best country we can be. The people in this country have become increasingly selfish. It’s sad to me. Maybe it’s always been that way and I’m just now becoming aware of the very noticeable division and selfishness. I used to think we all worked together to be the best that we can be as a nation (not as Democrats or Republicans) but that is unfortunately not the case anymore. Now, it’s more about “my side” and “your side” and if you’re not on mine and I’m not on your’s then we can’t get along and work together. What ever happened to that mentality of we have to agree to disagree? It’s dead today.
Yeah, I agree, I was no fan of TARP and I’m not much of a fan with the current bailout situation. Fortunately, I was smart enough to not go out and buy a mcmansion and two new cars and all that other crap. I know how to live within my means. At the same time though I’m not opposed to helping fellow citizens out so we can hopefully get back to how things used to be. But consider this, the Bush admin started the bailout out thing and everybody just went along with it. Now that Obama has taken over the Republicans won’t agree about anything. They’re playing the “me, me, me” game quite well. Don’t they realize that’s the mentality that puts us in a rut and/or makes us plateau. Progress can’t be made that way. You ever been stuck in a rut? It’s a real b**** to get out, especially when you’re alone.
Considering the alternative, yes, I am fine with the new prez. Do I agree or will I agree with all of his decisions? Probably not, but considering the alternative a better choice has been made. Will it be a flawless presidency? Already not. None are flawless anyway and considering the alternative a better choice has been made. They’re still human after all.
Oh, and the whole dog thing, who cares anyway? Not me. If they have a pet, fine. If they don’t, fine. That’s hardly an issue. I can see that it’s very important to you though considering the most you said about anything was about the dog with a few jabs in there. They didn’t hurt, BTW. Just shows where your mind is and what’s important to you. Are you a member of PETA or something? Is that why you’re so concerned with that?
As far as the liars and fakes, Bush was the puppet which equals fake and Cheney and Rumsfield are the liars. WMD? Do you need more input on this. You know that in the back of your mind these thoughts are there. Be honest now.
As far as keeping us safe, I guess you could say that, but how about Clinton, he kept us safe for 7 years too. Yes, Clinton failed to take Osama out, but do you know why? You know the US and UAE are buddies, right? Well, when the Clinton Admin had the opportunity to take him out, he was in close proximity to a UAE Prince and the mission was called off. Heck, there’s a show on Discovery about that whole incident. You ever heard of Richard Clarke? If not, you should do some research on him. He warned the Bush admin for nine months and was completely ignored. Read the book House of Bush House of Saud to learn more about that subject.
Adios amigo! Thanks for allowing a fellow US citizen into your private area.
I can do you one better ATG. The image is funny but it doesn’t shine a candle on the blog. Who knew, when Obama said he wanted to stimulate the economy, he meant via comedy on the net?

Brilliant. I hope this guy makes his money before Congress passes the new 500K salary cap tax!
Welcome Wow, feel free to change your name at anytime.
“my last comment was no more offensive than anything on written on this site.” – Uh, we don’t use extremely foul language. Just the occasional four letter – as in &%$. Your first attempts at contact were ridiculous. You know it.
“dog with the fro.” – I get accused of racism all the time. My response – I don’t know any black people, how could I be a racist? Except I don know a few black people so that really doesn’t apply. I gotta tell you – I don’t know where the racism thing comes from I think it’s a “the truth hurts” thing. But the choice of dog is just too funny. The Obama’s are all about the “black thing” and the cool thing and the reparations thing. I find it ironic and sadly expected that they chose this dog. I even won $10 in a bet! And I’m not a PETA person – of course I’m not. I’m a dog fanatic. I’d have 20 if I could. I love them all – although the bigger the better! The Obama’s are not dog people. What on earth will they do the first time that puppy slobbers all over Barack’s Air Force One jacket? Or worse, pees? The Obama’s getting a dog is, if possible, more ridiculous than Michelle planting a vegetable garden at the WH. No one who is a dog owner, or a gardner believes this BS. Te dog is a toy that will be cared for somewhere in the WH by, hopefully, a really nice Secret Service agent – those guys are the best – and will only be brought out for photo ops. Anyone who doesn’t know this by now is still buzzed up on Kool-Aid. My dream – the breeder takes the dog back! (Which is what should have happened with Buddy – the Clinton dog that got left out to play in traffic – or Socks, the Clinton cat that got “given away”.)
“What is right and what is wrong?” -Come on – you know what’s right and what’s wrong, don’t you? What is right and what is wrong never changes – people change the way they think because they get lazy and selfish and envious. But right is always right and wrong is always wrong. If you truly don’t know the difference, there’s no hope for you.
“The people in this country have become increasingly selfish.” – I see it as jealousy. People have been sitting in their homes for years now, watching television, getting “stupider and stupider” and they see what other people have and they want it for themselves. Of course, they forget it is fiction. And they never realize that you have to work to achieve – and even then things might now work out. They are under the impression that everyone else except them lives that way – kind of like how Europeans used to think “BayWatch” was a sort of documentary. There is no perspective. Poor people in America live better than middle class people in half the world. We have been seduced by stuff – more and more stuff. There is a big disconnect – because of crappy parents, crappy education system, crappy teachers, crappy government, crappy entitlements’ policies. I think the number of people who think and feel this way has gotten so large, they are influencing the rest. Plus, now we have a party in control of our Fed government who believes in total control of the population – not for the good of the population but for the good of the party – POWER. They are trying to convince us that if we just relinquish all rights to freedom, liberty and property, they will even everything out and all will be fine and dandy. This belief BTW is completely contrary to human nature. It will fail – it always has. Which is why I am vehemently opposed to Obama’s policies – economic, tax, energy, health care, education, etc… And don’t think I haven’t read up – I’m a junkie with this stuff. I, as a conservative, believe in as small a government as possible, as independent a population as possible, in power resting in the hands of state governments
“but how about Clinton,” – Seriously? Seriously? How about the WTC in ‘93? How about the Cole? How about the decimation of our intelligence networks that led to the attacks on 9/11? I’ll make you a deal – you can blame Bush for 9/11 or the recession – not both. Pick one!
I can’t figure out what it is you’re about. You’re all over the board – I like Obama but only because he was the least bad of the bad choices. I want America to come together – yet your first instinct was to go for the jugular with me because of the name of the blog? Try being less emotional, more rational – and remember, this is just fun for me – except for the Tea Party thing. I’m very serious about that. I believe with all my heart it is time for a complete turnover in Washington and across the country. And I’m fearful about where we are headed with all this “Kill the Rich!” class warfare, especially when the definition of rich keeps changing.
To be fair, Wow, I actually don’t think the GOP position on TARP has really been that inconsistent – they were mostly against it when Bush tried to pass it and they’re against it now.
Re: Clinton v. Bush… if you’re going to be fair, after WTC ‘93 we went a very long time without another attack on American soil (until 9/11), only slightly less than Bush’s record has held up now. Not that I blame either attack on either president.
Of course, where you and I would start to disagree, Mom, is the question of whether Bush made us safer than we would have been without him, but we don’t have to get into that…
ATG, could you please clarify? Surely you’re not suggesting the election of W caused 9/11? Or are you suggesting that the attacks that have been prevented since would never have happened? You know, the ones being planned by inspired copy-cats.
Lackawanna Six
No, W didn’t cause 9/11. Beyond that, it’s probably pointless to get into the argument…
If I promise to only laugh at your assertions, not argue, will you please tell me whose fault 9/11 is? I mean, I get that a lot of people dropped the ball, that the Clinton admin is culpable but it also happened on W’s watch. And I get the whole “we get oil from them so we can’t piss them off too much” theory, too – I’m not a fan of the Saudi’s – something about dogs and fleas. But I’m so fatigued from the get AIG pitchfork-wielding mob on Capitol Hill that a nice conspiracy theory would finish off the week nicely.
Keep in mind, though, while I believe heartily that we should have known ahead of time and the attack never should have been completed, the people truly responsible are the monsters that planned and carried out the attack.
I don’t have a 9/11 conspiracy theory, and I hold bin Laden/al Qaeda solely responsible for 9/11. I just said that you and I would disagree about whether Bush had made our country safer than we would have been without him. We don’t disagree about who was responsible for 9/11.
