GOPMOM Note: Not so effin’ classy, after all
Would someone please explain to Barack Obama that despite the media love affair, cheesecake photos and cover shots on check-out line rags, he is not a celebrity. He is, for now, the President of the United States of America. And he needs to keep his big trap shut and stop embarrassing all of us. So much for returning dignity… Say what you want about W but I sincerely doubt he ever read Us Weekly – not even the cover. God help us. Will he want a star in Hollywood next?

PS this is an amazing link:
http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=15374
Supposedly taken with a 1 gigapixel camera, allows you to zoom in on the faces of any of the 50,000 or whatever people seated at inauguration. This may be the coolest display of technology I have seen in a while, except that it caused me to waste a significant portion of my day finding myself in the crowd…
So re: the link -
Is this some sort of Where’s Wally game? More like a trick question? All I see are morons.
Now, on to socialism and why we don’t need it here.
Socialist nations go bankrupt. Their education systems suck. Their health care systems suck. Mediocrity is the rule. Contrary to your delusional beliefs, Ireland, France and the UK ( and many former eastern block nations) are all rapidly abandoning their previous commitment to nanny-state status. What have they all discovered? If you give people too much and take away all incentive, they stop working to improve their lot in life and become dependent and complacent. While socialism may no longer be the “bridge drug” to communism, the kind of world Obama is describing is communist.
Affordable health care is available in this country, as is a free education. Stupid people just don’t bother to go out and get it for themselves. I adamantly refuse to take responsibility for these wastes of space. Health care is available for reasonably financially challenged parents to get for their children. And there are schools in every community in America. If you needed a top notch, stellar education to achieve anything in this world, we’d still be cooking over open fires and stoning our food to death. It’s all about motivation. Libraries are free and everywhere. So what if you have to walk there – I did. Suck it up already, you crybabies. Go out and work hard and you will improve your situation. Just try not to have too many babies before you get to where you want to be – they make it difficult to get ahead. And pick a good spouse before you have those babies and stay married – all recipes for success.
Add in the 26 million illegals bleeding our states dry and you have a squeeze on the middle class. How to solve this? Prove you’re here legally and you can participate by paying taxes. Otherwise get out. Money problems will even out. I love how no one on your side ever looks at the reason why we’re struggling so much. We’ve given away too many of the hens in the house – now the fox has the key. Your answer to this is throw more money at the problem – “rich” people’s money. (BTW I’d like to know your definition of “rich”.) More money has never solved anything. Money is never the answer to a problem – if you can’t manage well the resources you already have what makes you think you can manage more resources better. Money is an insurance policy against bad luck not stupidity. (Wow that’s catchy – I think I’ll put it on a bumper sticker.)
Maybe if Barack Obama had ever had to balance a budget – or even operate with in one, he’d understand. But he’s been lucky – money has always just magically appeared for him – in the form of grants, loans, book deals, grandmothers, etc. So of course he doesn’t get it. Combine this detachment from reality with his Liberal view that all people deserve to be equal (except for him) and you have a recipe for socialism/communism. As someone said yesterday on Rush, the only thing that keeps socialism going is more socialism. The same should be said about capitalism. If a free market is truly allowed to operate as a free market, with demand driving it, it works. It is the government interference that bunged it up this time, as it usually does.
I gotta’ go clear the drive – and yes, we shovel our own snow, too. Surprised? You guys got me all wrong.
Socialist nations go bankrupt. Their education systems suck. Their health care systems suck. Mediocrity is the rule. Contrary to your delusional beliefs, Ireland, France and the UK ( and many former eastern block nations) are all rapidly abandoning their previous commitment to nanny-state status
GOPMOM, you obviously just generalize about things you have no idea about.
Not one thing you said there is factual…why lie. I merely stated facts, but you choose to make things up for the benefit of your weak arguments.
Is the UK not a functioning society, or France or Spain or any Northern European nation, or Germany or Italy? Their healthcare is outstanding, by the way. Come on, what the heck is wrong with you? All you can do is call people names and generalize about a system you know nothing about based on things you’ve heard from other people, namely RUSH LIMBAUGH! ARE YOU #$%@ing kidding me? You listen to the trash that spews from his A$$? Err, i mean, mouth. This explains your views on the world in general, your view that liberals are the evil ones, your view that the GOP is on a worthy course. I can’t even believe you would admit in a public forum that you listen to this mental case. You might as well be a muslim who listens to what the extremist groups say, for he’s as extreme as the republican base gets. WOW, I just can’t believe people still listen to this guy and in turn are left with nothing but hate and resentment for anyone who doesn’t think in this extremely twisted way. Have fun shoveling, might want to stop letting idiots shovel their crap into your mouth though. Watch out.
OMG Patrick, have you not read anything else here? My husband is from the UK and his entire family is still there – I know of what I speak. I know all about the UK’s healthcare system and it is not outstanding. It is worse than ours. Having coverage does not guarantee care. In America, you can walk into a hospital anywhere and get treated. Not true in the UK.
And, um, Patrick, we don’t make hateful statements on this blog condemning other’s people’s religions. How very un-Liberal of you, you intolerant hypocrite. The constitution that guarantees your right to be an imbecile is the same one that guarantees Muslims’ right to believe we are all devils, the same one that guarantees Rush’s right to speak the truth – the truth that no Liberal talk show out there can deliver because no one is listening, the truth that 20 million other Americans are listening to and believing. You realize Obama really screwed all you guys when he went after Rush, right? You’re at least that observant?
You just can’t stand it can you? You’ve given me a reason to get up in the morning, Patrick. It’s yahoos like you that give the three decent albeit misguided Democrats out there a bad name. And I never said Liberals are evil – just Obama. And Ayers and Emmanuel and Axelrod. I believe they are the Catholic definition of evil. (Yes, I’m a Catholic too – please rant to yourself, I know how you feel about religion, now – and my kid goes to Catholic school. And I don’t work, I just volunteer a lot. Try not to get too worked up – I’m sure your therapist has seen enough of you already this week.)
You might want to consider coming up for air, Patrick. I’m sure hanging with SpongeBob is a blast but oxygen is a necessity. And lucky for you, its still free!
P.S. Thanks for observing some decorum by *&^%$ out your *&%$#.
GOPMOM:
I’m glad this debate isn’t “face to face”, because if it was, it SURELY wouldn’t have gone this far. “They” would have already choked you, called the ACLU, and stepped on your McCain sign, all while burning the American flag in under 30 seconds.
Brandi, you should consult with some of my friends. Unlike Liberals, I proudly defend my beliefs, publicly and privately. And while I’m sure you’ll condemn me for this, I don’t have any friends that are dedicated Liberals – it’s just too difficult tog et along with idiots. But I must agree that no face to face encounter would ever have gone this far – I would have walked away long ago. Here it’s just a sport.
Never wrestle with pigs – you get dirty and the pig loves it!
“all while burning the American flag in under 30 seconds.”
What does this men, anyway? Are you one of those America haters? SImple. Get the &%$# out! The boats go both ways.
It was an analogy you intensely idiotic woman. I didn’t call out religion, though of course there are many problems with it, but I never once brought up anything against religion. Do you know what an analogy is? Look it up. I was comparing his extremism to that of extremism in any other sort of political parties or religions across the world, which, sadly, often run too parallel to one another.
My fiance is Spanish and I can tell you they’re doing a lot better with socialism than your family in the UK. She has a masters, which they paid her to get and worldwide healthcare coverage for absolutely free. Maybe you should fly on over and see how, in your words, “Socialist nations go bankrupt. Their education systems suck. Their health care systems suck.”
Mediocrity is the rule.
I’ve lived in three countries thus far and I can tell you right now ours has by far the worst healthcare coverage and is second of the three in education, but of course the other one was a developing nation, which shouldn’t even be compared to a developed one, but you often have to when you speak of our low quality healthcare system, which is similar to that of a ‘third world’ country.
“Get the &%$# out! The boats go both ways.”
That’s classy right there, elephant mom…i swear, you’re so full of it that all you can do is knock people down, well I’m sure I could sit her all day and keep calling you intensely idiotic and ignorant, etc, but you know, it just doesn’t add anything of substance to the conversation. It’s funny, seems you would have figured that out considering the fact that you run your own blog. Some people just never learn. You want me to post some of Rush’s so called truths? Do you really want me to do that? Please, just ask for it.
By the way, yes, oxygen is good, as are trees, which I mentioned earlier after you decided to criticize them, hahahah. You make this too easy.
I’m pretty sure brandi is on your side
That was an impressive shot, by the way ATG…I looked into that “robot” that takes those panoramics and it’s impressive…cheap too. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with my camera.
All I can say now is: WOW
Yes, Brandi, she’s beyond help. It’s fun to toy with these type of people, but it’s often scary to see the amount of lies they actually faithfully believe in and spew on others. It’s a sad state, but at least they’re not running things right now. We can be thankful for that.
The “person” who runs this post can’t seem to differentiate people on her side with others that are not on her side. So I would like to bid adieu to “Judas” on this note:
~ I am Christian. But I realize that people who are “extreme”, be it liberals, christians, muslims, environmentalists, etc. are MENTAL….and ALL wars are started and fueled by extremists……and this post confirms this. If extreme Republican Christians would just ALLOW others to THINK differently and if extreme Liberal Democratic Atheists would just ALLOW others to BELIEVE…..JUST IMAGINE THE PEACE…..
Brandi, you can’t claim to be tolerant and against all these “mental” extreme folks you talk about then let loose with the type of generalizations you did above… The pot is calling the kettle black…
ok.
If people in general would allow others to have their own freedom of beliefs instead of trying to “convert” others into what they believe, this world would be a better place.
Example: If I go to another country where their views and laws are different than my country’s views and laws, I should respect their beliefs in their country…..but I shouldn’t be killed, thrown in jail, fined, etc……
Is that better ATG? =)
I don’t disagree with you, I’m just saying that when you jumped all over Patrick for being someone who “would have already choked you, called the ACLU, and stepped on your McCain sign, all while burning the American flag in under 30 seconds” you weren’t really displaying much tolerance/moderation.
I wasn’t implying “Patrick”. I never once said his name ATG. I was implying extreme liberals. And I said that before I smoked a bowl. Now I’m good. Oh ya, by the way, the key to world peace is not only tolerance, but weed too. Thank you Michael Phelps. God Bless America. Im outtie.
So Brandi, I need to apologize because when I replied to you before I was running out the door and read the wrong name on the email. That’ll teach me to not respond so quickly – I just knew I wouldn’t be back for three hours. But I still didn’t get the American flag burning reference. Again, sorry I offended you – I meant to offend someone else. (Not necessarily because I’m a baddie, mostly because I’ve been doing this for two years + and I’m just tired of attempting to debate or convince Liberals. IMO, anyone who voted for Obama is too far gone – not worth the time to argue but setting them off is always good fro a laugh.) Remember, I’m in Sucks-a-chusetts so I encounter this kind of BS daily.
I’m pretty sure Patrick and ATG, et al believe they love America. I just don’t see how it is possible considering they want to turn it in to something different – remake it , you might say. I always thought love didn’t have conditions on it – apparently for Liberals, this is not true.
Again, I’m not perfect. Sorry I sniped. (Hey, maybe I could be in the Cabinet.)
Oh, but Brandi – lay off the pot.
“ours has by far the worst healthcare coverage and is second of the three in education”
Patrick, Move to another town. There are crappy places in America to be stuck living – not because the government has failed you or the banks or corporate America or Wall Street but because your neighbors suck. Oh, and give up on public education – now. The unions that run the schools in America are not there to teach children, they’re there to ensure tenure for all, qualifications and quality be damned. Try spending a little money on health care and education and you’ll be amazed at the results.
Think of it this way – A Would you prefer to keep your (I’m assuming) hard earned money to spend as you wish – health care, education, housing, transportation, etc… or B would you prefer to add your money to that of everyone else and just hope you get lucky and enough money comes in to provide all of those things for all 300 million of us, at your expected high standard? If you pick option A, you should just go away now because we will never see eye to eye on anything (unless you happen to be a dog or JEEP fanatic) and you’re wasting your time. If you pick option B, congratulations, you’re a conservative.
I suspect, though, you’re an option C – big chip on your shoulder, lazy schmuck who has suffered untold humiliation under some parent/teacher/employer and just can’t seem to manage to make a good decision to save your life. You’re probably looking back at 5/10/20 years of constant failure and disappointment that you cannot explain because you refuse to acknowledge that, as an adult, you are now solely responsible for your own economic/personal/social success. You refuse to acknowledge that you can no longer blame anyone but yourself for your inability to supply yourself with what you feel you deserve. Here’s a hint. Stop watching tv and comparing everyone on 90120 to yourself, read a book, go to school, find a (better) job, do something besides tell the rest of us how it should be and how its going to be now that the “One” has ascended to the throne, oops sorry, White House. What you have failed to realize is that there is still more money in private hands in America than in the government’s power to redistribute – and we’re not giving it all away to a bunch of ungrateful, wretched rats wishing to spend their lives suckling at the public teat. Wealth rules no matter who is ruling the roost. You basically have two choices – become one of us, the ones still working hard to improve their lot in life in spite of whoever is “in power” or stay in the hovel wherever you are and wait for Obama to deliver you check/cheese. Just don’t forget, he won’t be in forever – eventually you’ll have to take care of yourself.
Come on, GOPMom, you can’t think this country is perfect. In fact, if you really do love your country, based on your definition of love, you shouldn’t want to change our president or our leadership. You should accept any policy he or any policymaker comes up with and enacts as perfection itself and allow it to become a part of your image of a perfect, lovable America.
Loving the country is not about accepting it as completely perfect all the time – it’s about being proud of its values, feeling a connection with its people, and being excited about its potential. None of those things are incompatible with thinking it could be improved, or voting for Barack Obama (and they are the very reasons I did vote for Obama).
I didn’t say improve, I said remake – your guy’s word.
Semantics
Patrick,
You do think highly of yourself don’t you?
If you are going to change the definition of a word after making a point, then try assert your intellectual superiority, you make need to go to the Reality Store. The definition (socialism) hasn’t changed, you’ve just polished a tird, and tried to sell it as desert. I’m not buying.
No one ever accuses the government of efficiency, and when we think of corruption, the first group we think of is politicians… so why would we want to give these people/entities more of our money to do even more damage? No, I’m happy without socialism in our country. If it were so great, we’d see mass emigration from the US to the socialist countries.
“Words, just words”, right ATG. They have no meaning, they’re just meant to lull and quell.
remake – (verb) make (something) again or differently
improve – (verb) make or make better
I suppose it you have the intelligence of a gnat, it might be difficult to discern the subtle difference. But for the rest of us, we get it. It does not take a genius to know that Barack Obama does not like the current or historical version of the USA and is out to dramatically alter the balance of power/wealth/influence. I suppose I wouldn’t be so suspicious of his ultimate motives if he could just start hanging out with more respectable and admirable people. Instead, he picks thugs and cheats. Again, giving the fox the key never turns out well.
LOUDElf, It’s wrestling with pigs, isn’t it? They claim to want facts/figures/debate. What they really want is acquiescence. And it’s much more fun to point out their obvious flaws than respond with what they want. No mater what you say, it (still) all comes down to “Bush was a baddie but we won this time, so there!” (Insert really loud raspberry sound effect.) Children are in charge.
Hopefully this will be a cautionary tale and we can start clawing our way out of this debacle in 2010. After the response I got when calling McGovern’s office last week (the chick on the phone actually laughed at my suggestion that he not vote for the Bail-Out-a palooza), I’m considering an run against him – unless you want to run. I’ll bake cookies for the debates.
You might want to try and spell simple words like “turd” and “dessert” correctly if you’re trying to combat someone else’s claim to “intellectual superiority”
GOPMom, you have zero potential for a political career – you’re far to the right of the GOP, and people who say offensive things without thinking once (let alone multiple times daily) have a difficult time getting elected. Please run for whatever you’d like.
ATG,
Good point, but when a 10 year-old tries to assert their superiority based on the book they read, is it appropriate? No, and neither is his assertion. Sometimes people should focus on points and solutions rather than how much time they spent sitting and listening to someone else blather. In his case, he’s too focused on high flighty BS to notice the real and simple issue.
In yours, you’re missing the forest because all of those darned trees in the way. Disputing an argument from someone who did not use a spell-check while sending a quick response after a long day, as your main point — instead of disputing some of the logic in the argument — brings you down to Patrick’s level. You can do better ATG.
Has anyone read this???
Written by Anne Wortham,
“Here’s a brilliant African-American woman who believes strongly in the teachings of Ayn Rand. Very fascinating is how she describes that liberal colleges will not hire her because she refuses to tow the line of teaching Black students to be victims. Instead she believes in teaching them to be independent and pull themselves up from their bootstraps”
Fellow Americans,
Please know: I am black; I grew up in the segregated South. I did not vote for Barack Obama; I wrote in Ron Paul’s name as my choice for president. Most importantly, I am not race conscious. I do not require a black president to know that I am a person of worth, and that life is worth living. I do not require a black president to love the ideal of America.
I cannot join you in your celebration. I feel no elation. There is no smile on my face. I am not jumping with joy. There are no tears of triumph in my eyes. For such emotions and behavior to come from me, I would have to deny all that I know about the requirements of human flourishing and survival – all that I know about the history of the United States of America, all that I know about American race relations, and all that I know about Barack Obama as a politician. I would have to deny the nature of the “change” that Obama asserts has come to America. Most importantly, I would have to abnegate my certain understanding that you have chosen to sprint down the road to serfdom that we have been on for over a century. I would have to pretend that individual liberty has no value for the success of a human life. I would have to evade your rejection of the slender reed of capitalism on which your success and mine depend. I would have to think it somehow rational that 94 percent of the 12 million blacks in this country voted for a man because he looks like them (that blacks are permitted to play the race card), and that they were joined by self-declared “progressive” whites who voted for him because he doesn’t look like them. I would have to be wipe my mind clean of all that I know about the kind of people who have advised and taught Barack Obama and will fill posts in his administration – political intellectuals like my former colleagues at the Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
I would have to believe that “fairness” is equivalent of justice. I would have to believe that man who asks me to “go forward in a new spirit of service, in a new service of sacrifice” is speaking in my interest. I would have to accept the premise of a man that economic prosperity comes from the “bottom up,” and who arrogantly believes that he can will it into existence by the use of government force. I would have to admire a man who thinks the standard of living of the masses can be improved by destroying the most productive and the generators of wealth.
Finally, Americans, I would have to erase from my consciousness the scene of 125,000 screaming, crying, cheering people in Grant Park, Chicago irrationally chanting “Yes We Can!” Finally, I would have to wipe all memory of all the times I have heard politicians, pundits, journalists, editorialists, bloggers and intellectuals declare that capitalism is dead – and no one, including especially Alan Greenspan, objected to their assumption that the particular version of the anti-capitalistic mentality that they want to replace with their own version of anti-capitalism is anything remotely equivalent to capitalism.
So you have made history, Americans. You and your children have elected a black man to the office of the president of the United States, the wounded giant of the world. The battle between John Wayne and Jane Fonda is over – and that Fonda won. Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern must be very happy men. Jimmie Carter, too. And the Kennedys have at last gotten their Kennedy look-a-like. The self-righteous welfare statists in the suburbs can feel warm moments of satisfaction for having elected a black person. So, toast yourselves: 60s countercultural radicals, 80s yuppies and 90s bourgeois bohemians. Toast yourselves, Black America. Shout your glee Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Duke, Stanford, and Berkeley. You have elected not an individual who is qualified to be president, but a black man who, like the pragmatist Franklin Roosevelt, promises to – Do Something! You now have someone who has picked up the baton of Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society. But you have also foolishly traded your freedom and mine – what little there is left – for the chance to feel good. There is nothing in me that can share your happy obliviousness.

I would love to have dinner with that woman.
