GOPMOM Note: Conservatism on the rise as Rush Limbaugh rallies the troops @ CPAC
In an exchange earlier today on this site, I denied being a dittohead. At the time, that was true. It is no more. From now on, consider me just one more of the millions of dittoheads determined to “protect and defend” this great country we live in.
Great coverage at Politico.com
When it came to Iraq, Democrats “hoped George Bush failed,” said Limbaugh, making his first appearance at the Conservative Political Action Convention, “So what is so strange about saying I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to reconstruct and reform this nation so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation?”
Rush was brilliant, through all 75+ minutes. And I’m not a fawning fan. I’m just an ordinary American, conservative wife and mother, who knows that Obama and whoever is behind him is out to destroy our country and any who happen to get in their way. And I am determined to not let it happen.
I’ve been volleying back and forth today with a frequent Liberal commenter on this site and it is always amazing to me not only the stubbornness but the outright refusal of the left to allow that any other set of beliefs and values is permitted but might also have worth. And the pathological inability to recognize inconsistency of thought is astounding. They just won’t let “W” go.
Obama had promised to accomplish many things (economic justice, environmental reform, education reform, end the wars, national healthcare) and then he asked us to give him time because of the economic situation – that some things would have to wait, which is a very reasonable request. Yet he nows plows forward with his agenda despite his own dire warnings, in order to coalesce power. There are times when a President cannot deliver and/or delivers more than he promised. W was faced with a game-changing attack on our nation – he took us to war, with our consent. Obama is faced with a game changing economic crisis and yet he refuses to change his game. Which way do you want it – to deliver or not? Or is it as I suspect – this is purely partisan. The Republican must always follow through as he promised, no matter what or he is a cheat and a liar but the Democrat is given free license to adjust as he sees fit. Even you must get tired of the double standard, no? If Obama showed up on TV on Monday night and said he would like Congress to cancel the $787 billion and $400 billion spending bills because he had had a change of heart over the weekend, I would support that decision 100%.
And you are really that blind about the motives of the leaders of your party? They are children playing at payback because they think (key word – think, not know) the 2000 election was stolen and that they were entitled to the power all along. Throw in the Obamas and their heavy shoulder-chips re racism and you have quite a potent combination of rage and revenge. This is all about securing power, no matter what the cost to any American, not just the currently wealthy and/or powerful. There is no possible successful outcome to this bankrupting of our nation, other than creating a public dependence on government that will take generations to overcome. Of course, that may be success to you.
I have never believed there is a political center in this country. There is a place where those unwilling to defend their principles and beliefs (RINOS) have met up with those willing to settle for less, for all, if it suits their own self-interest (most Dems at some point). You may call that the center – to me it is a dead zone, where no one ever accomplishes anything and no one ever really gets what they wanted. I have no desire to reside in the center or associate with those there – it’s called fence-sitting. It just means you don’t really believe in what you’re doing or really don’t care as long as things turn out well for you. This false and media created admiration of the so-called “aisle-crossers” is what has doomed us to Obama – along with the Liberal indoctrination occurring in the public education system, that is. I’m not saying Conservatives are not responsible for where we find ourselves now – pitifully under represented – but we will never take responsibility for the debacle that is Obama. Not even W, John McCain or Sarah Palin will be held responsible, although the media may try to assign the blame there when this all implodes. Obama is counter to all that Conservatives know to be true and because of this, there is no middle ground. This is neither good or bad – you cannot attach sentimental values to it – it is simple fact. Your leaders know this, hence the “I won” comment. If your side truly believed that meeting in the middle had merit, that consensus (DRINK) was the true goal, you all would have called Obama out on that comment. But you didn’t – you snickered, publicly and privately, and reveled in it. But rest assured, we know a conservative when we meet one and Rush Limbaugh (you watched him at CPAC, didn’t you? Getting nervous?) is a conservative – you can have George Will.
As for branding political parties, you’re probably right on the point that Rush is more closely associated with Republicans… but be aware that this could only be good for Republicans at this point. Why do you think I chose “GOP”mom and not something else – because we all know what GOP stands for and it’s short and memorable – it’s all marketing. The reason all these left-wing bloggers are not more closely aligned with the Dems is that the Liberals see it as more valuable that they are associated with pop culture, not Washington. It’s brilliant and it’s how the Dems won – although really quite subversive. It may be comforting to know now that you were able to manipulate all the minions but if you really think about it, it’s pretty creepy and will most likely backfire. If they can be manipulated that easily, we can always win them back. You know, us Republican women can bake a mean pie.
But you still keep confusing marketing strategies with principles – which is understandable considering your side you can’t really tell the difference anyway . Never fear, we know the difference.
So, not as eloquent as Jonathan. And not as motivating as Rush. I’m just another cog in the wheel trying to combat the all encompassing assault on true American principles and values.

[...] this small story will go completely unnoticed, what with the Sebelius nomination today and the Rush Limbaugh speech causing heart palpitations in Liberals across the nation. And then, of course, there is the [...]
I watched with great interest Rush speak at the CPAC convention. I have been a dittohead from his humble begining.
What I find is very simple. Liberals do not like Rush because he makes them look inside themselves and they do not like what they see, but are too small to do anything about it.
Like some RINOS in my office, who are of color, who voted for Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2, talked a big game about values and hard work and being responsible for yourself and family and how they taught their kids these things, they turned their backs on the American way of life. The day after the election everyone came to the office with the officail Obama gear. Some of us knew this would happen with some. They always walked behind the crowd, they would never lead.
Here we are now with a liberal party that will not lead. They will throw stuff at a wall and see what sticks and say this will work. While in the back of their little brains they are running in different directions looking for what to throw next.
Conservatives needed a kick in the pants. They needed someone to stand up and say we are better than this and we are not race haters. We are Americans who love this country and want to live here free from socialist dogma. We will help others through our churches and organizations. But we do not want and will not stand for the liberal way of punishing the doers and reward the lazy.
A bit difficult to follow your train of thought, Mike, but I think it’s out of frustration and anger. I agree that the Dems are trying all the (proven) wrong ways to counteract a recession – we know this to be historically true. But what is scary about this is the motive behind the spending and policies. You said you would help others through charitable donations but when your taxes go up, your cost of living goes up, inflation skyrockets and your charitable giving deductions is gone, how much will you be able to give back? There is a concerted effort within the Obama admin to create an enlarged welfare class – and they are trying everything, “throwing everything at the wall”, in an attempt to ensure this happens. The more people dependent on the government for their, albeit, very minimalist standard of living, the better. But this will only work if we all tumble into a depression.
The question I keep asking myself is – If Obama is really the most compassionate, caring and capable man on the planet to lead the USA and therefore, the world, out of this (global) recession, why is he proposing policies that will deepen the recession, wreaking havoc on economies around the world? Doesn’t he realize millions will suffer horrendously, die from ridiculous diseases, starve to death and die in violent uprisings when the US can no longer supply the aid needed? Not very kind after all, considering his only goal is political dominance by the Left. I find using the term lying crapbag to be very comforting.
