GOPMOM Note: More Obama Transparency
With a big thanks to Momof4 for noticing - I don’t visit the site regularly because my stomach can’t take it - I invite you to visit the new and improved www.change.gov. You will find it much less informative than before. An entire menu at the bottom of the homepage is missing, “The Agenda” section, including the categories of Defense, Education, Healthcare, Energy & Environment, Taxes, etc… It was quite an impressive list, with lots of good points to ruminate over - and criticize.
But this morning, it is gone. It’s public information, so why the big cover-up? Is the not-in-office-yet, as The One keeps reminding all those Liberals champing at the bit, not even President-elect, having difficulty handling all the questions and criticisms? He can’t possibly prefer questions about his social calendar, seeing as he flubbed the “Have you spoken to any other Presidents yet” question. Did he think the actual job was as easy as getting the job? Wow, we are in trouble.

Since the topic of this thread was ‘transparency’, I thought I would squeeze this tantalizing tid-bit released on Atlas Shrugs.
It seems quite clear that, in addition to falsifying birth records and Illinois Bar application, Selective Service Registraton records are falsified, too. So much for transparency.

obama has 143 days experience in the Senate and voted “present”
almost everytime. So, we don’t even know where he stands on issues.
He isn’t even a practicing attorney. Yesterday I went to the
attorney registration & disciplinary commission of the Supreme Court
of Illinois and in the search part, I entered both Barack’s and
Michelle’s names. They both are NOT AUTHORIZED to practice
law….why I wonder.

It’s back up and the layout is improved. I’m not as crazy on politics as some on this site. I find it utterly irrational that people go bonkers over such petty things. Not that the plan itself is petty but the overblown response by left and right wingers to a website undergoing routine changes is loony. And I do mean left an right, NPR was cracking jokes on it all weekend.

You’re being naive, Charles, if you believe this was a “layout” change. Even you must surely recognize that it was not coincidental that the site “was updated” the same day (s) the story broke about what was written on it. The bit about requiring service gave no indication it was voluntary. And for many of us out here who already perform a lot of community service, there were a lot of questions. Combine this with Obama’s record of community service and his choice of orgs to support and naturally many of us were concerned about where our children would be headed. But rest assured, we will as a family, school and church continue to serve our community, whether it is an Obama administration approved org or not. The whole idea that children will (might) be required to provide community service in order to qualify for education what, grants, rebates, certainly not cash, is preposterous. Community service should be exactly that - service. Now, if he wants to start a youth corps, where kids who need some sort of way to assist in funding their education but also provide a legitimate service to the community - painting and restoration, landscaping, etc - I might be for it, based on how it is funded. I recognize the need for an avenue of opportunity for urban/rural youth who are in a disadvantaged situation, either socially or economically, but the work needs to be quantifiable. No free rides - or frankly, they’re not learning (or earning) anything.
I was not overblowing my response to the changes, I was responding to the sneaky way in which the information was up, was down, was changed, was missing, was misleading, was up, was gone and now is back again(?). Typical of the Obama campaign - all secrecy and denial, all smoke and mirrors. In case you forgot, I am still flabbergasted by the ‘election’ of this thug. I will be critical of everything he does, says, proposes that irks me.
Answer me this, if you please. Why was the Obama campaign so quick to change/rewrite the program when its a cornerstone of their social agenda and they’ve been so proud of it all along? If he’s willing to abandon every policy that draws scrutiny, the next four years might not be so bad after all.

You scope is certainly more expansive than my own. I was commenting on what I perceive as an overreaction to the agenda being down for about a week.
I’m afraid I can offer you little argument to its change in content as I’ve had no time for a close reading that would allow me to compare drafts. I presume that’s where we differ. I consider the president-elect’s agenda a work in progress,i.e. a draft, not as a document etched in stone. I’ve been personally impressed with his ability to change his opinions in the face of superior ideas regardless of their origination.

If the “superior” bit was actually true, Obama would be a Republican by now.
