Get out while you can
This is why my senior thesis was all about how the right to vote in America should be restricted. Of course I know that many of the people who voted for Obama are mistaken, misguided and widely illiterate and uneducated. I’m still miffed by the number of supposedly educated people who voted for him. Turns out I was wrong to be concerned about the supposedly “smart” ones. Turns out there are more stupid people out there than even I, with my inflated self-image, suspected. This is what I suggest. Get out now. This fight isn’t even worth it. Unless we start an honest to goodness revolution, we’re ducked.
Take a look at this video and tell me if you can sleep. Or eat. Or even return your heart rate to a normal rhythm.
And how ’bout these Zogby poll results, courtesy of HotAir.com - nauseating.
Let’s start with Zogby’s numbers. The poll surveyed over 500 self-professed Obama voters and has an MOE of 4.4%, with 55% having a college degree and over 90% having a high-school diploma. It asked 12 multiple-choice questions; only 2.4% got at least 11 correct. Only .5% got all them correct.
- 57.4 could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)
- 81.8 could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)
- 82.6 could NOT correctly say that Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)
- 88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)
- 56.1 % could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing). And yet…..
- Only 13.7% failed to identify Palin as the person their party spent $150,000 in clothes on
- Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter
- And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her “house,” even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!
I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am. Again. I have serious doubts about the mental capabilities of anyone who fell for the “pie in the sky” message of the Obama campaign. But I, at a minimum, assumed that the people voting for him had attempted to inform themselves - seeing as how they believed so strongly and were so militant and so defensive and so gosh darn belligerent - and then decided to vote for him anyway. The fact that so many of them can’t even be bothered to put a little effort into the decision making process, interject a little critical thinking and logic into the equation - I’m sick all over again. There is no hope. There is no future - for any of us that want to succeed, create something, build something. The tide has officially turned and the unworthy out number us.
There isn’t even any respect for the process. Look at the idiots still rioting and protesting in SF/CA. How imbecilic are you when you scream “I’m going to kill you” at a bunch of people singing Amazing Grace? There is no tolerance on “the other side” for anything other than complete capitulation to their desires for no responsibility, no limits, no laws, no restrictions, no retaliation. But do we see a backlash? No. We’re expected to tolerate this sort of bigotry and prejudice, like we would tolerate a toddler’s temper tantrum in a toy store. What is the matter with these people? Dare I say they are “touched in the head”? This is not rational, mature behavior. They should all be locked up - I bet a lot of them would enjoy it. (And yes, that was a slur. I’ve put up with plenty, so can you.) It almost makes me wish those Evangelicals were right and they all will end up unpleasantly surprised on judgement day. Come on - not for being gay, for hateful intolerance, of course.
Check out this clip:
There is an illness in this country that is taking hold of the population - complacency. The Lefty Obamabots are demanding to remain child-like - unaccountable, undependable, unreliable. They have been lulled into a state of “gimme, gimme, gimme” by a culture that worships money and things, not God. They have no ideas, opinions or dreams, except for what the TV shows them. I don’t think they even know the difference between TV and reality. These are people that believe reality TV is reality! They don’t question anything except authority - but only when it tells them something they don’t want to hear. When it (ie Obama) says “money is coming your way”, they line up like addicts at a methadone clinic.
The Left is hungry for power - over all. And the only way they can get it is by taking control of every aspect of our lives. Who would have thought so many were willing to just give up. Well, I gotta’ tell you. I’m considering giving up and giving in and taking my Catholic, conservative, American family way the hell away from here, as fast as possible. The longer it takes the rest of us to give up the ghost, the more they’ll steal, destroy, desecrate, defile and disfigure. I can’t imagine how long it will take for them to do it - it’s taken most of Europe 50 years to figure out socialism doesn’t work and it may already be too late for them to turn it around. Why support it by standing by without fighting? Will there be anything worth saving?
Many thanks to www.michellemalkin.com for publishing info and these videos. I would not have had the time or the stomach to find them otherwise.

I’m certain you could put together a similar set of facts and clips about McCain/Palin voters - turns out most of the population is really not that informed.
Also, remember that high education strongly correlates with voting Democratic, not Republican. I think saying everyone who voted for Obama did so because they were uninformed or dumb is borderline delusional.
‘Mom –
I often have some similar feelings, as when talking to many people who say they voted I ask some simple questions, and they do not know the answers. A woman cutting my hair about 6-months back indicated she was voting for a candidate, but when I asked about 3 reasons, she only could give me “I just like him more”. I asked what party she was in, she replied, and this matched what the candidate was. I then asked about the party platform. She then could not come up with more than 1 or 2 items. I thought she was just a monkey pulling a lever.
Then I thought they should have to test IQ to allow people to determine who may vote. But, what was the cutoff? What questions needed to be asked?
After this, I resolved that I often hated the result, but that we should not restrict any citizen from their right to vote, as we live in a free country. I’d rather have freedom with some bad choices, than to limit them with someone else’s choices.
Let’s talk again in four years.
And remember, any election requirement put out there would be applicable to all, not just one party. As it was intended, the right to vote was given to men who owned property, personal and business, and had either something to gain or lose based on how the election went. Now before everyone goes all bonkers, yes, I get it, women get to vote now. As do black people, who were part of the property at the time. The point is if someone has nothing to gain unless they vote to take away from others who have already earned, they don’t get the whole “vote for the good for the whole” - ta daa, 2008.
Today we have federal and state taxes that we didn’t have when we gave the right to vote only to property owners. If we restricted based on property ownership, we would have taxation without representation.
Trust me, I agree that the motivation and decision-making process of many people is highly-suspect, but I think it ends up being a slippery slope. I completely agree with your feelings, as I too find that many (MANY) people really shouldn’t be voting based on the lack of understanding of what they are voting for.
Why not get rid of Fed taxes for anything other than Inter-State commerce, international commerce and Foreign Relations and Defense, including military, space, intelligence, R & D, border security - I’m too tired to put together a completely accurate list, but you get the gist.
The rest should be state and local. Education, health care, welfare/social programs, environment, infrastructure. I know Im repeating myself again but I’m going to continue to beat this drum. As for the “some states won’t be as fair, prosperous, careful, responsible, etc… as others - move to a better state. Can you imagine how efficient and improved our government performance would be if we introduced a little competition into the equation? (Of course, competition is supposedly built in but since the electorate refuses to act with anything other than greed, we’re stuck with some really doozies in office.)
Gopmom, given that pretty much every study that has attempted to map “smartness” (in terms of IQ or educational levels - there may be other things out there that I haven’t seen) shows that measures of intelligence correlate STRONGLY with liberalism, I think that your proposal to try to only let smart people vote may be the first thing that you and I would agree on.
Sorry, after double-checking the study I remembered seeing about IQ and political views, I now realize that the Economist published then later discredited and retracted it, so forget what I said about studies of IQ and political smartness. Educational levels still stand, though.
Of course, Liberals still assume that education = intelligence. Not true. Ignorance can be cured, stupid cannot.
Mom,
Can you give us a universal definition of intelligence and a way to measure it? If so, I might take your thesis seriously. I can undersand why your professors were rough on you. You chose a thesis that is almost impossible to substantiate with anything but opinion. You probably believe that all people who chose to be Republicans are smart and all Democrats are stupid. That’s okay as far as beliefs go, but if you want to impose this view on the rest of us, you might as well be advocating a dictatorship because much greater than half the population will never agree with you; and I say much greater than half because you represent only the fringe of the Republican party.
I’m sure there are better proxies for intelligence out there (maybe IQ?), but I think it’s uncontroversial that intelligence at the very least affects the education levels you attain and the institutions which you attend (other things of course, such as wealth/connections will also affect the second one). Obviously it’s not 100%, but it’s the best proxy we have in terms of data as far as I know. You, on the other hand, have 0 data to substantiate your argument in the face of reasonably good data against it. Show me numbers and I’ll reconsider, but I don’t think applying an intelligence screen to the electorate would come anywhere close to achieving the political outcomes you’d be hoping for…
Uh, Charles, I strive to define this everyday. But I’ll make it simple for you, since you are having trouble understanding.
Conservative = Intelligent
Liberal = Not Intelligent
You guys on the left want to believe that education is an indicator, when it is not. In reality, intelligence, as measured by IQ, seems to be evenly distributed on both sides. On the left, though, more achieve a higher level of education - which I would argue lowers overall intelligence. I’ll take a smart guy that works hard all day over an intellectual any day.
And: Charles, GOP Mom, and all of us, it should always be remembered that among the higher ups in, and most ardent supporters of, the Nazi Party were many intellectuals, professors and professional people. Same with the Communist Party in the old USSR. There is no more gullible class than the Professoriat, in which it can be easily observed that excitingly NEW IDEAS (often meretricious and dangerous, but NEW!) are frequently deemed to be of greater value than common sense, which is often seen as old-fashioned and “non-progressive” by such intellectually perverted people.
Mom,
Again, this is your opinion and that is fine. I disagree and since there are no facts to back up your opinion, I need not supply any of my own.
Zack,
I would like to introduce you to America post-Sputnik when intellectuals were worshipped for what they accomplished, that is, nothing short of putting America back in its position of promenance.

This ought to confuse you real good.
Babba, I don’t get why the music videos. But I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. The first was a favorite of mine the year my daughter was born. The second I had never heard (not a big country fan) but I enjoyed it. It reminds me of the time we lost a thirty foot maple on our property line and while all the neighbors were wondering who to call to take care of the mess, my husband and I went out, cut it to pieces and chopped it into firewood. I bet the people that bought that house are still burning it.
(I’m just going to assume you weren’t thinking I was like one of those TV Desperate Wives types. Surprise, I don’t own a twin set or a Mercedes and I’ve never had a manicure. And my Jeep hasn’t been washed since before I left for FL in June.)
gopmom,
In truth the Liberals have been working toward this goal for decades. Teachers and educators have been dumbing down Americans since I was a young skull of mush. I remember my 3rd grade teacher complaining about Ronald Regan in 1980. Looking back this wasn’t the only time there was attempted brain washing. As we see today we have a youth (across all spectrum’s) more worried about how baggy their pants are, whether East Coast or West Coast Rap is better, who the baby daddy is and last but not least who is FICA and why is he taking money out of my paycheck.
Maybe we can Hope for the future voters and Change their minds.
Welcome. Now you know why I’m so desperate to keep my kid in Catholic school. Don’t get me wrong - there are a few Liberals teaching there, too but they’re clearly outnumbered. And I have the opportunity to ask questions about curriculum and be a part of the answer. Example - My daughter, 4th grade, will cover the topic of global warming this year for the first time. I asked the teacher, during a public forum meeting, if both sides of the debate are represented. This drew a few surprised looks from the other parents present but mostly head nodding when I explained that the ‘other side’ is the side that believes this is not the end of the world and I don’t want my kid coming home thinking Boston will sink into the ocean in 5 years - a common thread at the local public school. The teacher, who is now my daughter’s teacher, BTW, explained that she covered what is in the book - a Scholastic book published in cooperation with, can you believe it - CNN. So, I assured her I could provide her with alternative information so that she could present the whole picture. She did not resist this at all, but actually welcomed it. Now, they haven’t covered the unit yet but I explained myself by saying I think it unfair and unwise to test children on something that is not proven fact - we’re gonna need a few more decades. She agreed and felt that presenting the whole unit as a theory, therefore getting the opportunity to teach two points of view while also showing how this is the reality of most issues - two sides or more. I don’t think parents have that kind of input at public schools - the government won’t allow it.
But you are 100% correct in stating that the younger generations of our country are far more concerned with pop culture than politics - which is how it always is and should be. They were taken advantage of in this election by a manipulative wolf in sheep’s clothing and they will pay for it - in higher taxes and lost opportunities. Their road to success will be very steep - unless you count success by how many government checks you get each year. But I take heart in knowing that while Liberals have been trying to force feed us this for decades, it took until now for them to actually make real gains. It may appear we are smarter than they think. I don’t think they’ll be around for long.
Haha MOM I really love how conservatives really don’t know the difference between a scientific theory vs. a “theory”
A “theory” is merely a hypothesis
Whereas a scientific theory is more of a framework for understanding a concept based upon all existing evidence for/against
“unwise to test children on something that is not proven fact - we’re gonna need a few more decades.”
Well, I mean, talk to any climate scientists and you’ll see that there really isn’t any debate whether or not global warming is true, or that it is primarily man-made
Or maybe you believe in the “theory” of intelligent design too?
Like, OMG John! I can’t thank you enough for enlightening me to the difference between a “theory” and a “scientific theory”. Now that you’ve cleared this up for me, how can I not be a believer? And to think, that’s all it took to convince me we’re headed towards certain doom. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you. You have truly done the world a service, or at least the five people who read this blog - six if you count my mom. Now we can all go happily on our way, conserving energy, water, natural resources and toilet paper.
You can sleep well tonight knowing that you, yes, you John, are the one person who was finally able to clear up all this doubt. I mean, how did you come up with this - all those hundreds, nay thousands of scientists the world over cannot come up with a consensus but you, John, in just three short sentences, were able to finally answer the big debate of the early 21s century - Is global warming real? Because you were able to define the difference between just a regular “theory” and a “scientific theory”, we will now acquiesce and sign on to the global warming cult. Where do I send my registration? Can I make a donation?
And yes, I do believe in intelligent design. You might want to watch what you say in a public forum - Santa is watching. And so is Jesus.
You have to love the timing! Merry Christmas, John! Things are looking up - turn on a light.

Hey, why not re-intitute the poll tax. You GOPers sure have a funny way of showing your love of the democratic process.
Based on your scribblings, it is clear that you would never pass your own test.
