GOPMom Note: Apply for an Obama Administration job
With a big thank you to Michelle Malkin, for putting this information out there, (and many more, I’m sure), I encourage you to take a look at the new site put up by the Obama campaign. While there is no doubt the site is inappropriate and an abuse of the use of the .gov domain, it’s just an example of what we should expect from the Obama administration.
Michelle Malkin: www.change.gov smells like a fund-raising front
But it could prove useful. Follow the link and be first in line for a new government job. From the way the market is reacting to his election, government jobs may be hard to come by in a month or two. Apply early and often. And check out the other tasty tidbits while you’re there - National Service - very ominous, Civil Rights - you’ll enjoy the bit about suppressing the vote, Education - apparently American “infants” have been left behind. Oh, it goes on and on. Get there quickly. Leave your story. Lend some advice. And get your name on the Obama watch list.

I just happened upon your site today and bravo! I wonder what my mandatory volunteer requirement will be? I’ll make sure I fit it in between changing diapers, reading stories, and playing cars with my three precious boys. In the meantime, I will be volunteering at my church and for Right to Life on my terms. Imagine that!

I graduated from college 16 years ago and remember studying nonstop. I can’t imagine having to squeeze in 100 hours of service on top of 18-20 credit hours. We need to let children be children. The government needs to let families raise their own children.

I suppose bushcheneytransition.gov bothered you as well? the .gov is not a private domain it belongs to the people. Are you folks by chance suffering from ODS?
Comment by ann on 7 November 2008:
PS google Presidential Transition Act of 1963 them intertubes are sumthin’ else!
Comment by gopmom on 8 November 2008:
Momof2, I’m actually not as bothered by the hours requirement (100 hours is 2 hours a week) as I am curious and dubious of what will be considered “Community Service”. As a parent with a child at a private school - with community service requirements for upper grades - I wonder whether the activities my child already participates in will count, because they are all through the Catholic church.
What is most telling about this plan are the questions it raises:
- Most high schools I’m familiar with, public and private, in suburban districts, already require community service so, at which schools is this policy directed? If this is an urban initiative, I’m all for it.
- Who will oversee these “programs”? Teachers, other gov’t employees? Church leaders? Parents? Are we looking at a new, huge, bureacratic creation? Can we even afford it? (Obviously not.)
- Will the overseers of this program, be given criminal background checks? Will parents be allowed to be involved? I’m not signing up my daughter.
This whole thing is so ridiculous. The people in this country who do serve as volunteers do it because they believe it is the right thing to do - or a judge makes them. To mandate everyone else do it, whether they want to or not, just invites resentment, mediocrity, disaster. (I happily look forward to all the controversies this will raise - if he even pursues it.) While I love the idea of encouraging community service, especially in populations where it is not part of the culture, Obama has once again shown his complete misunderstanding of Americans. As I’ve said many times before, Obama belongs in a pulpit, serving a community in need, not the White House.

I don’t understand liberal thinking. Give people a handout instead of a hand up. Be personally cheap in charitable donations but make other people give their money to the government that would have gone to charity so that the government can give it out. Force people to “volunteer” instead of letting them do it on their own. Pay government employees to “volunteer”. Pro abortion yet anti-death penalty. Tout anti-racism while at the same time promoting blatantly government sponsored racist programs. Pro education but anti voucher where they can make sure a student will get a fair shake. Promote personal freedoms such as smoking marijuana, public sex, and so on yet get into everyone’s personal lives and dictate what they smoke, what they eat, what they drive, what they recycle, how to run their own businesses, and it goes on and on. I’d pay an extra 10% in taxes if they just left us the hell alone!

Welcome Dave. And I don’t understand Liberals either. They are like children. And like children, they just want someone to come in and take care of all the “hard stuff”.
I find it unfathomable that a population that will vote to save dogs, owls, bears, fish, birds, etc… can’t be bothered to pass a law that will save a baby’s life - even after a botched abortion. There is no understanding a person like that. Are they even human? How warped is the mind that can live with that? (And the fact that people like this call themselves Christians or Catholics makes me furious.)
They don’t care about anyone but themselves, they’re comfort and they’re bottom line. Is it no wonder they voted in a guy who probably believes he can raise a trillion dollars by raising taxes on only 5% of the population? I’m truly looking forward to all the light bulbs above their heads turning on. Maybe that will solve our energy problems? It could happen, right? Obama got elected President, didn’t he? Apparently anything is possible.

Right on Dave B.
Comment by ATG on 9 November 2008:
I will give you abortion - I think the fact that it has been accepted practice for so long has dulled our society’s ability to step back and see abortion as the ending of a life.
Comment by Momof4 on 9 November 2008:
Dave, you hit pretty much hit every nail on the head. I’m with you gopmom, also, on the abortion issue. The fact that he even spoke up against the bill to save babies, let alone voted against it twice, should have been enough for any “christian” to vote against him. By the way, if you check out http://www.change.gov now, there is NO AGENDA listed anymore. “The One” has made a “change” and removed his plans for all to see.
