Michelle Obama’s DNC 2008 Speech - I am switching
Whew. I must say - that was a very convincing speech.
I found a few quiet minutes this afternoon to watch Michelle Obama’s speech before the DNC last night. I would have watched it live, but I was too tired and too nauseous after the Kennedy lovefest. But as I just said, it was very convincing. I’m actually starting to doubt all my previous opinions about Barack America. Maybe he really is here to save all our souls. So, I want to apologize to all the morons out there who have been trying for a year or so to tell me that Obama is the one. I’m sorry. I just didn’t know they meant he was THE ONE.
Mrs. Obama said Barack believes all children are entitled to a “œworld class education” from pre-school to college. What is world class ““ is that where you can speak more than one language or is that where your hippie mother drags you all over creation as a youngster? My daughter is already getting a world class education and it costs us about $5000 a year. The local school district spends $10,000 per kid and does not deliver quite the same education. But if President Obama can provide that kind of education for every kid in America, I’m all in ““ well, at least $5000 in.
I didn’t know President Obama was going to find everyone a job. Now, is that everyone that wants one, or everyone? Because if he means everyone, I’m all in. And by a job, I guess he means a good job that pays a fair wage and will not go away even when big business discovers that labor and taxes are cheaper elsewhere and unions aren’t all up in their business. But after all our kids get that world class education, will they want all those fair wage manufacturing and service sector jobs?
Apparently health care (and mental health care) for all is also on the way. Whoohoo! Finally. My family’s policy costs us $1100 per month but I know not everyone can afford that. I wonder if President Obama might consider consulting with Mitt Romney. His private-provider-state-subsidized plan has been a great success for Massachusetts. In fact, it’s such a success, more and more (middle class and up) people are dumping their “œexpensive” employee provided plan for the cheaper state plan, which, of course, is bankrupting the state that now wants to not only deny us our promised income tax reduction but also raise more through sin taxes. But hey, if Barack can get it done, sign me up.
Michelle Obama said that as President, Obama will responsibly extricate us from Iraq. OK. I didn’t know he was going to do that. I heard it was a cut and run plan. But a responsible extrication could work ““ I just thought something like that would take, oh, I don’t know, maybe a few decades. Does he mean he can guarantee the safety and sovereignty of all Iraqi people ““ in sixteen months? Maybe he can also give them that “œworld class education” he keeps talking about. That would be supercalifragilisticexpealidocious.
Finally, Mrs. Obama tells us that President Obama is going to inspire us. He is challenging us to refuse to settle for the world as it is and join him in the quest to create the world as it should be. Barack Obama stands where the “œcurrent of history” meets the “œnew tide of HOPE”. Barack represents hope, not fear, dreams, not doubt. Now, after sentiments like that, how could I not do a complete 180? And to think - all this from a poor (half) black kid, raised by a single mother in a world dead set against him ever achieving anything. It’s almost a miracle.
I didn’t know Barack could do all this. It sounds so good, how could I not just fall into line behind the morons and vote Obama on November 4th. I never knew it was so easy. I didn’t know you could change the world and all those in it with just the punch of a chad. I guess it’s worth a try ““ what could happen in four years? Or does he want eight? Oh well, I’m not one of the rich ones, so how bad could it be.
Don’t believe me, watch for yourself.

I guess you got taken in by the propaganda techniques of Radical Socialist S. Alinsky, which Michelle quoted in her speech last night.
Alinsky’s strategies and tactics permeate Obama’s campaign.
Anyone who has familiarized themselves with Alinsky’s work will easily recognize the profound influence they have on Obama’s strategies and tactics for political organizing. Alinsky was an utterly ruthless cynic for whom the end justifies the means. Obama struggles to avoid disclosing his own beliefs and true political agenda, the better to reflect the agendas of those he would organize, remaining a blank slate upon which those who “hope” for “change” can scrawl their dreams. That is straight out of the Alinsky playbook, as is exploiting those organizations for your own purposes after you have built them up.
Pure genius when it comes to leading the unwashed masses.

McCain promises more war. More war=The draft. Do we want to offer up our children to go and fight for oil. Because thats what this is really about for the GOP, and anyone who thinks otherwise is naive and/or in denial.

Excuse me, OMOM, what war did McCain promise? I missed that one.
Comment by abgonzales on 28 August 2008:
He promised to continue the one that Bush started.
Did you miss that too?
